What Is Corosex pH Adder and How Does It Work?

Corosex is a powerful pH correction media used in water treatment systems to neutralize acidic water.

It is made from high-purity magnesium oxide (MgO), a naturally alkaline mineral that reacts with acidic water to raise its pH level.

Why pH Balance Matters

Water that is too acidic can cause:

• Corrosion in pipes

• Metal contamination in drinking water

• Damage to appliances

• Reduced lifespan of plumbing systems

Maintaining a neutral pH helps keep water systems safe and stable.

The Corosex Neutralization Process

When acidic water flows through a filtration tank containing Corosex media:

  1. Water contacts the magnesium oxide media

  2. The media slowly dissolves

  3. Acidity is neutralized

  4. Water pH rises toward neutral

This process stabilizes water chemistry and prevents corrosion.

Faster Reaction Than Calcite

Corosex reacts faster than calcite because magnesium oxide has a stronger neutralizing capacity.

This makes Corosex ideal for:

• Strongly acidic well water

• Systems requiring faster pH adjustment

• Blended neutralizer media systems

However, because Corosex reacts quickly, it is often blended with calcite to prevent overcorrection of pH.
